How long guitar wireless systems last
Guitar Wireless Systems unlike standard guitar cables and leads last for ages. When I used to use leads I felt like I was buying a replacement lead every few weeks. They always lost the connection around the jack head and started to crackle and then stopped working completely. So wireless guitar systems may not sound cheap, but they are more of a long term investment if you need to buy a new lead for £10 every 2 months! Since I've owned and gigged with quite a few wireless guitar systems (digital & non digital) I've accidentally stepped & stood on quite a few of them. And pretty much no damage (apart from cosmetic) has occurred; they are as sturdy as effects pedals. And that's the ones made out of plastic. The metal systems, such as the line6 range are pretty much indestructible in their metal casing. As long as you don't do anything stupid like spill water on them, they will last for ages.

A History of Wireless Guitar Systems
On my site Wireless Guitar System I discuss loads of the technical side of wireless guitar systems. In the future I will tell you a little about the history of wireless systems, but here I hope to give you a little preview of that.
It's probably no surprise to you that digital wireless guitar systems were not the first wireless systems. The first wireless systems were none guitar, and the first used for musical purposes were wireless vocal systems which were first used all the way back in 1949! This technology was then used to create bugs for spying.
After this they became widely manufactured by several businesses who are still around today. They were released in 1959. Then the technology was slowly developed and updated and eventually designed to be compatible with a guitar. The Rolling Stones were the first band to use a wireless guitar system live. This was a VHF - very high frequency system. These days we have UHF - ultra high frequency systems and digital guitar systems too. The performance mostly depends on the quality of the system rather than the type of frequency it uses.
